Amazon’s Kindle 3G with Special Offers has something new to offer: AT&T (NYSE: T) sponsorship and a 15 percent price drop, to $139.

Kindle’s 3G connectivity was already provided by AT&T, but AT&T hasn’t underwritten the cost of the device until now (at least, not publicly). In the release, AT&T’s Ralph de la Vega said, “Kindle 3G is by far the fastest-growing connected device on the AT&T network.”

Update: An Amazon (NSDQ: AMZN) spokeswoman stressed to us that AT&T is sponsoring screensavers on the Kindle 3G with Special Offers, while Amazon will continue to cover the cost of the 3G.

Amazon announced a $164 Kindle 3G with Special Offers back in May, in order to compete with the launches of Barnes & Noble’s Nook Simple Touch Reader and Kobo’s eReader Touch.

The ad-free Kindle 3G is $189, and the WiFi Kindle with Special Offers, currently Amazon’s bestselling Kindle, is $114.
