There is tech bubble. A lot of these companies are not making anywhere near the revenue that justifies those sort of valuations. If the figure quoted above for twitter is correct then it is valued at 46X it's revenue.
That's kind of crazy. You won't find any company listed on the FTSE, CAC, DAX etc with those sorts of multiples.

Lucian, i agree with you on most of the comments you make on TC or gigaom or other blog sites. Most of the blogs seem to have taken a sort of safe reporting strategy where they reinforce the "widespread" belief rather than ask the right questions, mostly trying not to get on the wrong side of the respective companies' PR dept in the fear of loosing access to news.

I don't believe that there is a tech bubble. There may be a dollar bubble that is giving the impression of a tech bubble, but, ultimately, more and more companies are going to turn to online and mobile advertising as the years go by, and this will increase, not decrease, the value of these tech companies. There is a lot more room in the tech space. What I see happening more likely is a retail collapse, really.

Uhm..."banner-style advertising, the main tool for most media companies and publishers" aren't exactly producing "much bang for the buck" for them either. It's mostly a broken model right now.

A possible solution is here: http://alexschleber.amplify.com/2011/02/23/very-perceptive-post-about-the-potential-for-a-new-kind-of-search-on-facebook/
