I think this article nicely sums up Current.tv’s challenges. Biggest is carriage but it doesn’t end there. They have to get cable providers to move it next to all the other cable news channels. This is nothing new. FNC’s Fox Business Network has the carriage but it isn’t located next to CNBC on most cable TV companies (NBC’s business news channel) and that is hurting it. Keith Olbermann is a good catch for a far-left channel but he just isn’t that big of a star. His departure from MSNBC was only a momentary dip in their ratings. Maybe when Al Franken doesn’t win re-election in Minnesota (a very strongly likelihood), they can rope him in… but, again, he’s not that big of a pull either. And if Current.tv does gain any meaningful ratings (we’re talking in the hundreds of thousands), it will very likely be at the cost of MSNBC’s already small piece of the pie… and likely CNN.

Name calling isn’t productive …. But facts are . Msnbc ratings were up, but the hope for an instant ratings boost are initially problematic for the new show as long as it’s a $30 upcharge to get the tier with Current on Directv. I bought it, but hope iTunes gets it up quickly. It’s 8pm pst and still no Countdown on iTunes.

Olberman has “momentum”. Are you kidding me…. This guy’s as dead as they get. Not only will he bomb, but Current TV will continue it’s downward spiral….
