Local media by definition is LOCAL.

So why in the world is the FCC bothering itself with this? If the locals want more local media, let THEM solve the problem — must we have the Feds calling the shots on EVERYTHING?

Michael Copps must think taxpayers have bottomless pockets stuffed with infinite amounts of cash . . .

Well everybody been screaming about how the government is too big and too costly. Their campaign was a success. We can’t afford to give anymore subsidies for anything.

The news industry is in transition. THANKFULLY this is one government agency that knows more government intrusion isn’t the answer. As for accountability journalism, if the Pulitzer Prize would give annual awards to bloggers for investigative reporting, local reporting, and such, I think that would be a good step in the right direction.
