I completely agree! I don’t want free and useless MobileMe till June of next year, I want a prorated refund.

@Eric, Log in to your account and look at the expiration date. It should have been changed to June 30, 2012. If that’s the case, you should not be charged, and you will be moved to iCloud this fall.

I have a trail mobileme account that expires on June 25th 2011.
Will I get automatically renewed to the iCloud service when available? Will I be charged the $99 yearly fee to renew automatically?

It must depend when it expired. Mine expired May 14 then my email on May 29th. Mine got renewed.

Me too. I want to keep my mac.com email. Sound like we will, but have to be on Lion and sign up for iCloud!

iCloud will offer the ability to purchase more space, weither or not that continues from your existing me account I am not sure.

I spoke with Apple about this exact issue last night. I recently renewed my MobileMe subscription just a few days ago as it was set to expire on June 1st. Apple told me that I can cancel my subscription now for a full refund. But by doing so will end my access to Me.com and all of my e-mails and files will be deleted from the MobileMe server. On the other hand I can wait until iCloud is functionally operating and request a refund then. But my refund will be on a prorated basis. By doing the latter, I will still have access to to Me.com and my files on the server. Being that $99 is quite a bit of money, I’m thinking of backing up my MobileMe e-mails and files, cancelling my subscription and using some other e-mail service until then. But there is no guarantee that my same e-mail address will be available once iCloud is functional.

George and Thom, it’s unclear what would happen to your email if you cancelled now, but a lot of other people are asking the same question, so I hope that Apple will have an answer for us soon.

Find My iPhone has been available to non-MobileMe users for a while now, so it’s not surprising that this service still works for you.
