Hi, some how I doubt that a lot. Recently I was going on a trip to a foreign country and I had to decide between the ipad and low powered celeron notebook. In the end the choice was easy, I took the notebook. I knew I was going to be using the free internet access and so I wanted to use a vpn connection. I use the ipad to read magazines /Zite and light surfing but it is not useful for doing any real work unless it has a keyboard and mouse...and that is the probleme. Apple does not seem to get this, but there is hope with the Android and potential Microsoft slates.

Cloud or no cloud one still would like to have access to files off line meaning locally on the device. Having argued that, IOS is not even in the game since its file system is accessible via itunes only. What kind of computer needs another computer to manage its files?!
I presume that once Apple marries IOS and OSX, then you it would happen on their platform. As for Android, well they already have a file system on the Honeycomb (3.0 and Beyond). The first time I held on Ipad in my hands I marveled at the idea of a computer that it could and should be, it is far from being a computer as of 2011. Right now Android rules, it really, really works.

The consumer doesn't know anything about fragmentation. A walled garden approach has advantages and disadvantages but this approach cannot conquer the world. It stifles innovation because some good ideas are shot down in favor of personal interest and gain.this controlled model is good for apple but bad for the industry

Without a doubt tablets will be the standard in computing, I think the only thing that's holding them back at the moment is high speed Internet both over mobile networks and standard home broadband. I use my iPad 80% over my desktop iMac
