Um.....last time I checked.....there are 50 states. I am not sure 11 governors is really something to be bragging about. As much as I agree with Sprint, I doubt they are going to be able to stop it. Can't say I blame them for trying. Now, IF AT&T does pick up T-Mobile, hopefully they will pick up it's customer service philosophy. AT&T has the worst customer service in the industry (OK Maybe Cricket is worse, but they don't really count anyway), while T-Mobile has typically dominated in care. Unfortunately, I expect the odds are better that Sprint will stop the merger.

Patrick, AT&T started the death of unlimited mobile data last June when they started forcing new iPhone 4 users to chose between capped plans. They later relented and agreed to grandfather in previous unlimited data customers who were upgrading.

Last month AT&T has started to do the same to xDSL customers.

But "past performance is no indicator of future performance" or behavior

For T-Mobile customers, as well as customer service personnel, a merger is NOT a good thing. I do not want to be a customer of AT&T - again.

And I don't want to be a customer of MCI - again - after they almost tripled the price I was paying for a wired phone in about 5 years. Now that company is Verizon.

No thank you to both of these control freaks.

And just how much have those members of Congress and those 11 governors been paid for their approval of the merger?

I agree that Sprint is calling foul because it is going to hurt them. However, I don't think this will be good for the consumer. When everything turns from "minutes" to "data" and you are billed based on the amount of data that you use, only having a couple options will hurt the consumer.

I promise that the days of "unlimited data usage" will be a thing of the past.

When AT&T merged with SBC, the DoJ required a complete inventory of all fiber optic lines, and later, divestiture of excess lines. Spectrum is a more valuable asset, and I would suspect that the DoJ would require a similar inventory as a condition of the merger.

If the DoJ fails to step in, contact your congressperson to support re-introduction of Henry Waxman's Spectrum Inventory Act: HR 3125 in the House, Senate Bill S. 649)

For information on H.R. 3125 See:

DoJ requires divestiture of certain SBC/Bell South assets:

Also, today is the last day for FCC comments. Here are instructions and a link:

Is this the same "open, competitive road best traveled" Sprint took when trying to acquire MCI Worldcom in 1999 or when it bought Nextel? When these corporations pay bureaucrats to regulate the market and to pick winners and losers in the marketplace it is fascism no matter who is doing the buying. It's just that, in this case, Sprint is the loser so now it cries foul. Come on. A "Senior vice president of Government Affairs?"
