And the best part is the expanded activity to drive up share prices and dividends is short term - it falls again when you stop again, which makes artificial inflation attempts temporary, and not that effective. People sell you off when activity drops, so you're better off finding your happy medium.

Hey Greg... to some extent I'm kinda happy about the comparisons to Farmville -- if we can be as successful as that... well, sweet! :) That said, it's really not about tweeting more to drive up your value -- only when others are engaging with your content will you start to really see benefits in terms of share price and dividend payouts (you earn daily virtual cash based on your investments' activity and engagement). It's also about how much effort you really feel like putting into driving your share price up; I, for one, haven't changed my habits at all -- I just come to Empire Avenue, make some connections and check in on my numbers every once in a while. We all have more than enough to do these days without artificially inflating activity :)

There's probably some informational benefit to Empire Avenue, but by and large it seems like a way to ascribe value to behavior that may really just be a waste of time. Reminds me of Farmville, to be honest. Should I tweet more to bump up my social networking "value"? Probably not, when there are plenty of activities that have real world value.
