If the resolution/quality of the next iPad improves to match AT LEAST the level of the current iPhone 4, all of these third party hardware + computer solutions would be obsolete as far as I am concerned. I would use only the iPad and one of the many scanner apps (e.g. genius scan) out there. I already am doing this with my iPhone 4! Please Apple, improve the quality of the next iPad’s rear facing camera!!!

The NeatWorks software isn’t available for Windows separately so that won’t work if you are windows user. I recently got ScanSnap S1300 which is the next step from S1100 and it works very well. If you aren’t taking it on the road with you, the extra $50 is definitely worth it and it’s not big at all either, and it allows you to scan up to 8 documents at once using the sheet feeder.

So in the end I am yet to find a receipt scanning software that works with hardware other than NeatReceipt. Expensify (https://www.expensify.com/) is in beta testing with this ability right now.

Does anyone know of any other software that will read receipt information and capture it? At very minimum the date, store, and total amount.

Doxie is an awesome tool. Very efficient and light-weight. The price is not bad either. This seems like a great buy for anyone who needs office supplies, and the fact that it’s portable makes it incredible.
