It sounds to me that future versions of the Mac OS will have a multitude of features, many of which will be used by a small minority of users. This is not a happy thought,if you consider that each one of these "features" will be installed and the average user will be stuck with a whole bunch of GBS on his hard drive that he doesn't want and can't get rid of.

This is the same type of thing that caused windows to be labelled bloatware, and should be unnecessary. All of this kind of crap should be optional during installation, just like languages and printer drivers.

Spaces never worked well for me on OS X. I and others like finding their files on just one messy desktop.

However, I think the touch screen makes it more practical in iOS. Much cleaner file system.

I think there might be a relation to the date on which the article was posted on patently apple (which I follow) and the patent having Mac OS style pictures. I'm not sure if it was a joke or not, but I wouldn't really report on it on a news site without confirming. (and if you have, then I'm sorry)

As someone who's a fan of neither iOS nor Spaces, I hope not.

Firefox 4's tab groups are a huge step ahead, by allowing workspaces to be created dynamically, and organized by name with spatial hints. It sure beats picking "Space 2," and unless you really see the benefit of only having Adium in even numbered spaces, it's also much less fussy to configure. I can live with an app/tab appearing in just one space, or all of them.
