They&#039;ve barely improved the Atom CPU over the years, because they didn&#039;t want it to evolve too much and become good enough for low-end laptops, where they could sell processors such as Core i3 instead.

Their only weapon against ARM chips is Atom *if* they cam manage to make it as energy efficient and cheap. But it&#039;s obvious they have a conflict of interest in truly promoting the Atom chip against their other chips, and a conflict of interest when deciding how fast to upgrade the performance of Atom. Because of this, Atom will remain behind new ARM chips, while those ARM chips from Nvidia, TI, Qualcomm and Samsung will start being powerful enough to be used with Windows (and Chrome OS/Android) in notebooks and even servers.]]></description>
