I hope this new standard takes off, or something similar. Even if it’s just in place a stop gap option until networks build out their data capabilities. I feel like hardware is being held back by software developers and networks that can’t keep up with what new devices are capable of.

What about increasing WIFI access in problem areas or having short-range, high speed towers where congestion is bad. Or even better yet, tier your plans on bandwidth instead of bits. (thats where the real problem is anyway) I think that this solution is an idea, not necessarily a great one.
