Using a MacBook with live GPS updates can be used to provide turn by turn navigation as described here http://tinyurl.com/4bqcerm.

Most of the mapping software on OS X is sold seperately from the naps and the maps arecstored on the local hard drive. So it is ideal for those very remote locations or when on a boat.

You can add satellite GPS with one of these devices to a MacBook, but not to an iPad. Something to consider when choosing between an 11″ Air and an iPad.

Yes, you would be more interested in how to offload the data than how to connect via Bluetooth. I like the V-900 because of the micro SD card. I find it to be the easiest to offload data onto my Mac.

I think this is awesome, but I don’t quite understand what the benefits are of doing this? Would you mind spelling out why I want to do this since you’ve told me how to do it? I’d appreciate any quick note.

Any chance you could carry the device around without the Macbook Pro and connect it later to find out where you’ve been? The SD card should be able to record, right?
