Edited version for "fat finger" corrections and additional comment:

Big picture: Isn’t the iPad 2 announcement on March 2? If so, do you really need an article just two days before the announcement?

So on March 2 a new article will be written about the actual features. Then there will be a slew of comments about the likes and dislikes and the “Why the hell did they leave that feature out?” comments.

Not to mention the "Android had those features back in 1989 when Gearge Bush the First was president" comments.

Eyeballs, eyeballs, eyeballs. Om is so happy now.

Since iOS5 will be announced in the same time, in my opinion improvements will be very much related to the iOS5, historically all product improvements from Apple are combination of software and hardware. We can expect additional cameras for FaceTime, more ram, stronger processor, better battery life and improved design. higher resolution would need better graphic processor, Apple engineers would have to deal with more power drainage and more heat. I am not 100% sure that they are ready to trade battery life and/or size, more expensive processor for higher resolution, specially if you take in account price drop rumors.

Nice article, I am getting an iPad 2 (almost certainly) and really hope this is a large update. A back facing camera could make sense for FaceTime, which I will be using. I doubt the retina display but liked your idea of having a better screen. There will probably be something we really didn't expect, 3d? Probably not. 4G/LTE? Doubt it. Can't wait till Wednesday!!

I don't expect this in iPad2 & possibly future iPads given Apple's aversion to a stylus.
But, I think the appeal of the iPad would be significantly widened if it incorporated hand-writing recognition, along with the ability to write notes on it-- in classrooms or in a meeting room. This is one of the most appealing features to me in my Win7 tablet with Windows Journal.
