"it has built smaller antennas attached to a single radio that can send and receive Wireless signals using multiple radio technologies including 4G 3G and some 2G technologies."

How is this different than a femtocell other than the multi-radio capability? is this an ODU? It's clear that size reduction (ala a cell phone) of antennas and electronics have made mobile networks possible in the first place. Irrespective of a high gain panel, you cannot change propagation characteristics from a 30 meter outdoor location that's well situated to wireless traffic.

Wasn't the whole point of PCs and mobile devices like the Palm and BlackBerry that we have all the information we need on our persons - on our own Personal Computers - and not relying on dumb terminals connected to a mainframe?

Seems we've gone back to the future with more OSs relying on a mainframe (sorry - The Cloud) to be functional, with the added caveat being "Providing you have a constant connection to the internet".

It one thing to use The Cloud to backup non-essential and non-private files, but maybe these new devices with their new OSs that aren't the only thing that is 'dumb'.
