When will these bozos learn? Every time a new technology comes out they fight it, and then a few years later they wind up using it themselves. Doesn’t anyone in this industry have the ability to see beyond the end of their nose?

I think you may be over-interpreting this one, Janko. Sounds to me more like simple careful dealmaking by the studios. Why give the other party rights to something you don’t need to give them to get the deal done? It’s always better to leave open the option of making a separate deal, either with the same party or another, for the outstanding rights.

One is left to wonder how much longer movie theaters will be a stumbling block to full Internet distribution of movies? While the “big screens” does offer some level of “experience” that “small screens” don’t .. who needs the hassle of driving to a movie theater when you can get the video streamed into your home, laptop, iPad, or cell phone?
