Clearwire: The 4G operator has appointed three new executives, all nominated by shareholder Sprint (NYSE: S), to its board of directors. William R. Blessing, Mufit Cinali and Hossein Eslambolchi will all join the board, replacing three other Sprint executives — Dan Hesse, Keith Cowan and Steven Elfman — who left the board in September. The appointments come as Sprint is discussing further investment in Clearwire (NSDQ: CLWR). (via 8-K filing)

GSMA: The wireless industry association has elected Franco Bernabè, CEO of Telecom Italia, as its new chairman, for a two-year term lasting from January 2011 through December 2012. Jon Fredrik Baksaas, president and CEO of Telenor Group, was elected as deputy chairman among a number of other board appointments. The GSMA represents nearly 800 of the world’s mobile operators, and more than 200 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem. (via release)

Touchnote: The company that lets you make physical postcards from you mobile phone or PC has appointed Nicholas Babaian as head of mobile. He was previously at Skype, where he was head of mobile product management. Freddie Gjertsen has also joined the mobile team; he previously worked at Symbian, where he was head of community innovation. (via ME News)
