ProofHQ is an online collaboration tool that allows for markup and review of files, web pages and documents; Imran thought it looked very impressive when he wrote about it back in March. Since then the company has been busy working on improving the tool and has recently added AV proofing to it, making ProofHQ into a “one-stop-shop” for proofing of design work across all media types.

AV proofing allows for reviewers to mark up video and audio files collaboratively; a wide range of formats is supported. Comments can be added to the timeline and applied to either a specific point in time or a over a duration, and can be repositioned simply by dragging and dropping the comments pin on the playhead. Reviewers can also use the tool to compare different versions of a movie.

To celebrate the release of the new AV proofing functionality, the company has kindly provided us with complimentary 12-month top-of-the-range Premium accounts (worth $3,588 each) to give away to three lucky readers. The first three readers to comment on this post will get a free subscription.

  1. AV proofing takes this service over the top! Plus, I think it intergrates with Basecamp.

  2. I’ve been toying around with signing up with them, I’m tired of rolling my own thing and always finding stuff I need to recode because it doesn’t work with client X’s browser.

  3. Looks like ProofHQ has got something to offer.

Great tool to go forward from the Social Web 2.0 to the interactivity we need like Google Docs or docs.com, for those of us who want to use all the power of the web with our peers. Video has been the most difficult to handle yet until flash allowed to do those, great innovation with ProofHQ.

  7. Thanks all, I will send the email addresses of our winners to ProofHQ, who should be in touch.

  8. Thanks to everyone for your awesome comments. We’re sending log in details as we speak to the winners. Thanks again :)

  9. While all the comments indicate “this is awesome” I actually am having a hard time telling from the product site why this is better or why I would want to test using it for feedback. Can someone share their experiences?

    1. Hey Leah,

Thanks for your comment. We pride ourselves on being different from the rest as it were due to the collaborative of the application. You can review and comment on a proof simultaneously and comments and replies are updated in real-time. There’s also no need for the reviewer to have the software in which the original file was made as ProofHQ automatically converts it into a web format so that anyone, anywhere can review it as long as they have a browser.

If you’re interested in finding out more, I’d be happy to chat to you about it. You can drop me a note to mel@proofhq.com :)
