Babelgum’s Animatron Online and Mobile Animation Film Festival started its public voting period today, offering viewers the ability to vote on nearly 200 animated short films. The winners of these Audience Awards will be shown at the Hamptons International Film Festival, where Babelgum is also going to announce and showcase the winners of the Animatron Jury Awards.

The festival’s jury includes director and producer Tommy Pallotta (A Scanner Darkly, American Prince), animator and cartoonist Isaac Littlejohn Eddy (The New Yorker), and Nexus Productions managing director Charlotte Bavasso (Lemony Snicket).

Winners of the Jury Awards will receive cash prizes of up to $5000, but the Audience Awards members are apparently going home empty-handed. The voting period ends on Oct. 10.

Babelgum has been investing heavily in original content in recent months, acquiring shows like Chad Vader and co-producing viral videos like Little Jersey Shore.
