San Fran residents, are you busy on Thursday, Sept. 9? Because if you’re not, GigaOM and NewTeeVee would like to invite you out to the movies. As we announced last week, we’re working with Universal and Rogue Pictures to host a screening of the upcoming documentary Catfish.
Premiering at this year’s Sundance, Catfish has already gotten a lot of attention for its story of a Facebook relationship that gets very, very strange. Like The Sixth Sense Catfish is built around a twist, but the way Catfish slowly reveals its secrets is a mystery beyond anything a Hollywood screenwriter could come up with. Because it all really happened.
If you’re interested in the topic of online identity, like movies and want to be one of the first to tweet your thoughts on the film, you’re going to want to be in the theater with us on next Thursday to seeCatfish. That way, you get to see it with cool people (readers like you) and before the movie goes into limited release Sept. 17.
So here are the details:
Thursday, September 9, 7:30PM
101 Fourth St.
San Francisco, CA 94103
And all you have to do to get in is visit Universal’s site to RSVP. From the NewTeeVee team, Ryan Lawler, Janko Roettgers and myself will be in attendance, as well as Liz Gannes, Om Malik and your other favorite GigaOM Network writers. Hope to see you there!
