Twitter, which has been building up its sales team since the launch of its ad platform this spring, has hired Fox Audience Network president Adam Bain as president of revenue, TechCrunch reports. In recent weeks, Twitter has made several key sales hires, including adding Facebook media sales director Dan Coughlin and Yelp sales director Amanda Levy, as sales directors.
Bain’s departure from Fox Audience Network comes as News Corp (NSDQ: NWS). had been mulling selling off part or all of the unit. The latest chatter this spring was that News Corp. would spin it off and sell a stake to a PE firm, although that talk has since died down.
We’ve asked News Corp. who is succeeding Bain and are waiting to hear back. A News Corp. spokesman says the company is not commenting.
Bain was appointed to his current job at News Corp. two years ago, when the company reorganized its Fox Interactive Media business and set up the Fox Audience Network to sell ads for News Corp. sites, including MySpace, and also for third-parties. The division has had particular success with its self-serve ad platform and announced a reorganization of its own three months ago designed to put more emphasis on that business.
