The Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) engineer who led the development of the Flickr, Fantasy Sports, Yahoo Finance and other apps on the iPhone and iPad, has left the company. TechCrunch reports, and the company has confirmed. Sandeep Gupta, who previously worked at Apple (NSDQ: AAPL), could represent a big blow to the company’s mobile operations which had been reorganized to focus on developing several applications, rather than having a portal-like experience within one app.

A Yahoo spokesperson said that Gupta was a member of a larger team that focused on mobile app development, and that the company’s strategy hasn’t changed.

Yahoo’s mobile efforts have been on a tumultuous track over the past two years with multiple reorganizations and several senior departures. The most recent move integrated the mobile group into the company
