This is handy… I used to use Ardiem – PPC era code.

This is very handy when you have multiple optical drives attached to one device. The keyboard eject key is generally associated with the first / original.

Maybe I was mistaken, but I could have sworn after I reinstalled Snow Leopard (don’t ask) it was there and I had to drag it off. Could have been something else though.

This tip also works for 10.5. The eject menu is located in System/Library/CoreServices/MenuExtras.

Be sure you’re in Macintosh HD and not your Home folder. There’s no way your Mac could function right without the CoreServices folder.

Ummm OK, I’ll bite… I can’t find the folder you mention…

Open a Finder window and go to /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras.

No CoreServices in my Library.

And I think theAppleBlog is a great site!

And if you have a copy of Toast, paid for or Lite bundle-in version, there is a menu item under the menu “Recorder” called “Eject”, Command-E.

Or you could use something like Semulov (Volumes backwards) which will eject anything that can be ejected from yur menubar. That includse ISOs, DMGs, CD/DVDs, and external Hard Drives

If the disc gets stuck, or any of the afore mentioned means of ejecting prove to be frozen, reboot and hold down the mouse button during the boot sequence. You can also use the “drutil tray eject” command in terminal to eject a disc. With slot loading macs there certainly are more than a few ways to get a disc out, but only one way to get it in.
