Hello. I wanted to alert you to a Google Reader app that I will be releasing soon. The beta program is going well and I will likely be submitting it to Apple in about a week.

The key feature is that it brings to the iPad continuous scroll or what Google calls the expanded view. You don't jump back and forth from header to article, reading summaries and looking at thumbnail images. You just scroll and swipe within a beautiful interface and carefully designed typography. One of my trial users commented that the app makes it easy to get lost in the news which has been my goal.

Here are some preview screen shots. Please follow @riverofnews for updates. Thanks!

What really disappoints me is that Safari on the Mac has, in my opinion, a very simple and elegant way of organizing and displaying feeds. It is a shame that the experience is not replicated on Apple's other devices, so one must really use other apps to do syncing and reading.

this weekend I just had to start using Google Reader, and it made sense, as I really needed to stop rereading stuff on every platform I use.

so, if before my quest was for an RSS reader that could fetch my Safari feeds, now I am happy that I found an elegant solution as Reeder.

Early Edition was a nice app, but it doesn't present articles on an exact chronologic way, for example, showing multiple feeds from multiple sites on the same page. And I found it slower than other apps.

I also bought NewsRack, and I hope it is good, but, if not, Reeder seems already to be almost perfect, and I am happy to use it.

For offline reading I was impressed with how well NewsRack worked. It would only pull in 100 articles/feed (if memory serves me) but would also pull in images.

The downside is that it would take a long long time to do a full refresh.

Hi there!

I loved the article.

While searching for a good iPad RSS reader, I noticed that most apps are too Google Reader-centric.

Why there is no single app that would sync with MobileMe, or even import Safari's (the mobile one) bookmarks?

I say this because I use Safari's RSS on the desktop, and I like to use it that way. But it's just not the same thing on the iPad, and I really would like to use a dedicated app for RSS on it. But the idea of having to manually copy and paste all of my RSS feeds is terrible.

I wonder if there's an app that imports the feeds, or, even better, syncs them with MobileMe!
