The HP/Palm merger hasn’t taken place yet and Palm is acting to keep interest in the webOS platform as many people have a wait and see attitude about Palm today. The company quietly mentioned on its blog a couple of days ago that for a limited time all apps in the App Catalog are now half price. There are a “handful of exceptions” according to Palm, but the vast majority of the catalog is now half off.

There’s no indication what is behind this major promotion, but it’s likely to counter the apathy that consumers are feeling due to the uncertainty of the platform after the merger. It is expected the deal will be signed this summer, and while HP has indicated it intends to push the webOS platform onto tablets and other devices, the devil is in the details.

  1. Using the iPad on a daily basis made me realize how far superior webOS is to iOS not to mention how bad AT&T service is. I’m still on the fence on getting the EVO even with the sense UI is still quite clunky in comparison and switch back when a new HP/Palm device is released. Its a toss up between ultrafast and clunky vs refined but slow.

  2. Quietly? It’s quietly all over palm.com’s homepage.
