As Quantcast has rapidly built up its U.S. operations with a string of major media partnerships with companies like MTV Networks (NYSE: VIA), the audience analytics firm is now trying to turning its attention to growing its European business. The San Francisco-based Quantcast, which also has an office in New York, has hired ex-Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) London exec Philip Macauley as UK managing director, where he will be responsible for leading the company’s operations and expansion into the UK market.

Macauley joins Quantcast after a decade at Yahoo. His most recent post at Yahoo was director of business development and Commercial Relations. Before Yahoo, Macauley was with WPP’s MindShare.

Quantcast just launched its “global audience service” in March and the company claims to have garnered some particular interest in Europe. With Macauley in place building the UK business development, Quantcast is planning to quickly expand to other countries across the continent across the next few months. Release
