Will the multi-touch work in the non-slate mode? If so it would be perfect as it becomes a big "touch pad", right?

Great video. I am wondering whether the LCD swivels both direction (right or left)?

Also can you please tell me whether it can be held by the left hand from the swivel base for right hand pen usage. Your video shows that you are holding it in the left hand from where the Web camera is.

Thank you.

ALWAYS IN SEARCH OF THE BEST (hp=2740p vs x201t vs DellXT?3)

First of all thanks for the video

I would like to know the following

1) Keyboard
How does the hp2740p keyboard compare to the X201 keyboard. The lenovo keyboards are legendary and very comfortable to type on. However some keyboards from dell and other chicklet keyboards are quicker (not necessarily feel better) due to lesser key travel. what are your thoughts.

2) Screen quality
 - How does the brightness compare to X201t screen. The screens are generally achilles heel of lenovo

Is it true that the DLV screen wouldnt be as good inside. Does'nt make sense
What is the reflective properties in direct sunlight between x201t and hp. A less reflective screen is more readable even with lesser nits brightness.

3) Capacitative touch with finger
How does the capacitative touch with finger input especially for scrolling compare to X201t

How does multitouch gestures like magnifying, rotating compare with X201t

4) How does real world battery life with wifi on compare to X201t (with 6 cell battery of hp to 8 cell battery of lenovo- we can extrapolate the 8 cell performance to 6 cell with simple arithmatic)

5)How is the reception of WWAN without protruding the antenna out. I dont like the idea of antennas protruding and coming in way and breaking off.

Thanks a lot again.

I would be greatful if you could shed light on the above aspects.

ta,

In terms of how this performs outdoors, keep in mind there is an optional "outdoor" display for this model for users who primarily work outside like in the construction industry, etc.. I have verified from an HP rep that the crispness/clarity of the display for indoor viewing will not be as good if you have this option so there is a trade off for that. I have ordered my 2740p and will hopefully have it in a week :)

Hey James,

first of all thank you for your time to let us participate in your experiences with the latest Tablet PCs on the market.

I am very curious about the accuracy of the tip of the pen towards the acutual dot on the screen. I know that a lot of reviews unfortunately neglect that. How much does it deviate from each other above all around the edges? It would be very nice if you can compare it to the Lenovo x201t.

Thank you very much in advance.

It does have one and as I usually do, I turned it off. These tend to dim the screen too much for me. It's toggled via a simple keystroke.

Question(s) about the Ambient Light Sensor: The HP site suggests there is an ambient light sensor on this machine. Did your review unit have one? Can you comment on it's effectiveness? Can you turn off the ambient light sensor in a control panel - or is it only managed in the BIOS?

Thanks,

Jason

The 2740p is a business class device and the construction shows this. It is solid and very rigid during use, due to the reinforced internal frame according to HP. I find it even more solid than the x201t, which is also nicely constructed.
