General Motors’ Paul Pebbles, Service Line Manager for OnStar and the Chevy Volt, told us at our Green:Net event last week that the car company will be “doing work in the smart grid space,” and using GM’s OnStar connectivity “to be able to offer customers services that they really want and need for electric vehicles.” He was quiet on the details, but GM has already announced that the Volt — scheduled to launch in late 2010 — will roll out equipped for remote control of certain vehicle functions via smartphones.
