Google is going to give developers a first glimpse of its Google TV platform next month at its I/O developers conference, according to a Wall Street Journal report. Google TV, which is based on Android, will apparently be showcased at the event in order to get developers excited about working on apps for the platform.
Google has been developing its TV platform in cooperation with Sony, Intel and Logitech, and Bloomberg reported yesterday that Sony may be present at the event to announce hardware that will run Google TV.
Google TV has also gotten some interest from Samsung, with an executive recently telling The Korea Herald that the company is considering developing devices running the platform. Korean rival LG, on the other hand, has said that it is not interested in Google TV. Panasonic’s EVP Bob Perry also recently stated that his company isn’t working on any Google TV devices, because of cost issues associated with the processing power needs to run Google’s software.
