The person who joins an early stage startup is in an entirely different mindset than one who joins a company with 20k+ employees (workflow, day-to-day, risk/reward, are just a few big differences).

Great people are everywhere and if you’re solving cool problems, and you’ve’ got a passionate founding team, you’ll find and attract the right people – regardless of how many people Google is hiring.

If any of those startups want to come to the Columbus, Oh Area (Central Ohio), I can provide them with a list of hundreds, of not more, of former IT people, electronics engineers, technicians and tech managers, all of whom are looking for employment. Many are now my friends as we all compete for the occasional fast food job.

Maybe your prognostication is correct for a few areas, such as silicon valley, but, I believe in most of the middle of the country, and certainly here, technology of any kind is a dead end. And, don’t believe the governments unemployment figures – there are a LOT of us going under!
