National newspaper online ad alliance quadrantONE has hired Datran’s Mario Diez to head up sales as it plans to launch a search for a new CEO, the company told paidContent. Last week, the company lost CEO Andy Ellenthal to semantic ad specialist Peer39. In the newly created post of SVP, national sales, Diez will be the point man at quadrantONE, which was formed two years ago as joint venture between the New York Times Co. (NYSE: NYT), The Tribune Company, Gannet and Hearst Newspapers. Before landing at the e-mail marketer Datran, Diez held sales posts at Centro, PointRoll and the NYT.

  1. Should have stayed at Datran
