There’s the legal language of a formal cease and desist letter like the one TheWrap.com just sent Newser LLC CEO Patrick Spain demanding an immediate stop to the controversial news aggregator’s use of the Hollywood news site’s work. (Full text embedded below.) And there’s the way Sharon Waxman, TheWrap’s founder and top writer, puts it: “All we really want is for Newser to stop pissing on our leg and tell us it’s raining.” Waxman’s prescription to resolve the situation: “Very simply: put in credit and links where they are missing. Add a Wrap homepage link to the source grid page. Make it simple and logical to get to actual Wrap content from that page.”

If not? From the legalese: “The Wrap will begin registering copyrights in its original content with the Copyright Office on a going forward basis. Your staff should think twice about re-writing The Wrap
