The Streamy Awards announced today that comedian Paul Scheer will be hosting this year’s main awards ceremony — the first time that the show has had a host. Scheer might look familiar to you thanks to his work as a cast member of MTV’s Human Giant and much film and television work, and he’s also appearing right now on the HBO series Funny or Die Presents.

With the announcement release came a nice picture of Paul Scheer, but rather than post that, I’m going to link to an example of the dude’s ability to work a live audience. Here’s a clip from the 2009 Comic-Con, when Scheer ambushed Lost producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse at their panel on the final season of the show with a painting of them with a polar bear.

Because here’s the thing — as funny as this clip is, it was much funnier seeing it in person. Which hopefully speaks well for Scheer’s hosting abilities come April 11.
