If Wolfram really wants to be a Google Maps for data, they need to make the iPhone and Ipad apps free and monetize in some other way. But perhaps, as there is obviously a small market of folks who are willing to pay handsomely for Alpha apps, they should have two apps — a free version and a premium one.
