Hi Leyla,

Yes, there are contractors who will come out and evaluate the indoor air quality in your home. Check out this portion of the EPA's website, which has more info than you'll ever want to know on the topic: http://www.epa.gov/iaq/ Hopefully, it will point you to some listings of dependable contractors.

This is a longshot and you are probably severly over-qualified to answer this question, but do you have any idea if it is possible to get a consultation about the indoor health quality of a home? Are there residential environmental consultants--or something like that--in San Francisco? My husband and I are expecting a baby and we are moving into a new place and we are worried about possible toxicity, primarily related to the floors/staining. There's got to be consultants for this, right?! I can't find anything. Please help! - leyla
