umm.... FriendFeed is just news feeds, and how long were they around before facebook?... oh... FB bought them out but still... how can one patent something that's been in existence before the patent came to place?... Duff beer anyone?

So, what may the implications be for other social networks who use or plan to implement news feed style features in the future. Is it the way that it is executed (in context), how it is made (code etc.) or it’s existence at all that has this patent protection? I don’t really get it?

It’s like the people who patented “embedding stuff in webpages”

Patenting the news feed is a joke. Do we really know how the patent office evalutes these patent applications?

This patent will play a big part in Facebook's core competency as their news feed is the engine which feeds it's social network site. That is how users keep abreast with what their friends are doing. I wonder what implications will it now have for other socail sites whow are using a similar news feed.
