Confirmed: The companies have confirmed the acquisition in a release. Bloggers Ed Morrissey and AllahPundit will join the new company, and the site will remain separate, complimenting TownHall.com which Salem already owns.

Christian media company Salem Communications apparently has added Hot Air, the prominent conservative blog owned by journalist Michelle Malkin, to its roster of online properties. Mediaite first reported on the deal earlier today; Hot Air Editor Ed Morrissey subsequently wrote in a blog post that while he couldn’t officially comment until Thursday, “a big announcement about Hot Air’s business status” was in fact coming and that Malkin would soon be writing about the “acquisition” (Via Mediabistro).

Salem, which owns 94 radio stations, has bought up a number of conservative and religious websites over the past few years, including Christian job site Intercristo, TownHall.com, and CrossDaily.com. We’ve reached out to the company to get details and will update when we hear back.
