It's good to hear that the odd pinch and zoom behavior is specific to maps, I'm a Droid user so I've got nothing to compare it to yet and thought that the map zooming wasn't as smooth as it could be. It seems as though the P&Z is based on certain zoom levels and that it jumps you to the nearest level rather than letting you settle at exactly what you want. Hopefully they tweak that eventually, but I'm not really complaining at the moment.

If anyone is interested I have a theory regarding why P&Z was suddenly bestowed upon Android users.

Matt,
until Palm enables the GPU it will never open programs as fast as iPhone/Android.

its clear the Pre has the power to do so considering the specs alone, plus even more importantly how well 3-D games run since they have GPU access via the Native PDK.

RE: Nexus One Pinch & Zoom

P&Z seems to be precise on Gallery and Browser. The Map is a bit interesting because depending on the zoom level, it needs to fetch different tiles.

I think the visual artifacts in the Map could be from the slight differences between the different levels of maps.
