Vivox, a Framingham, MA-based provider of voice services for online games, virtual worlds and social networks, has received $6.8 million in its third round of funding, with the round led by IDG Ventures with follow-on investment from Benchmark Capital, Canaan Partners and GrandBanks Capital. With this round, the company has raised about $20 million in total. The company says it is now doing 2 billion minutes of voice chat per month, with customers such as Electronic Arts (NSDQ: ERTS), Gaia Online, Linden Lab, Sony (NYSE: SNE) Online Entertainment and others; it also recently launched a voice chat app for Facebook.
