In October 2009, Newsday announced that most of the content on its Web site would be available only to customers who receive newspaper home delivery; to Optimum Online subscribers; or via a $5-per-week subscription.

But according to two former Cablevision customers, even Optimum Online user names and passwords from inactive accounts can be used to log into Newsday.com. More on Multichannel.
