Vienna-based mobile game developer Xendex has raised $3.5 million in a second round of funding. Previous backer Pontis Capital led the round, with participation from a number of private investors. This brings Xendex’s total raise to just over $7 million. The company will use the new money for future licensing deals, and to fund its continued expansion to various mobile game platforms.

The funding comes at the tail end of a year of wins for Xendex. The company developed Space Invaders Evolution (pictured), a mobile version of the arcade classic, that got rave reviews (and sales), for EA. It also launched its first iPhone games, including a Red Bull-branded motocross game, as well as quick, downloadable titles for Xbox LIVE Arcade and the handheld PSP. Release.
