Yesterday, while many WebWorkerDaily readers were taking a well-deserved day off and chowing down on Thanksgiving turkey, the team at Mozilla was busy pushing out beta 4 of Firefox 3.6. This new update includes over 140 bug fixes, but perhaps most importantly (to me, at least) it fixes the problems that beta 3 had with Facebook chat. If your beta has not updated automatically, it’s definitely worth updating now via Help -> Check for Updates.

Are you running the beta of Firefox 3.6? Let us know what you think of it below.

  1. 3.6.b4 isn’t available for download. The link takes me to 3.5.5 which I’m already running, and crashing with regularity.

    1. It is available for download, Paul, but you have to download the beta first otherwise “Check for updates” will only download the latest full release. You can get it here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

  2. As usual, you can download an Intel-Optimized version of 3.6b4, plus 3.5.x, and 3.7 at http://www.latko.org/downloads/. These are Mac only builds, but are fast and reliable.

Another thing about 3.6b4, the Javascript File API has been added. You can gather/manipulate file uploads without involving the server. For example, check the file size/type for form validation.
