iPhone game startups keep raising funding, while bigger companies like Namco, ngmoco and Playdom are growing their iPhone game empires through acquisitions. But Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) may be gearing up to give them all a run for their money when it comes to crafting iPhone games — as AppleInsider reports that the company is scouting for a “passionate gamer” with experience developing “at least one AAA title” to join its team.

The job listing is posted on Apple’s site; the company is looking for someone with a full deck of development skills — hard coding, audio, graphics as well as networking experience — with a bit of project management to make sure the project ships on deadline. This isn’t Apple’s first games-related hire; in May, it brought in Richard Teversham, a 15-year Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) vet with extensive Xbox experience, for an “educational” role in its European office.
