Here are some of today’s phone conversations I enjoyed reading or viewing on the web, along with some brief thoughts:

sholes-tabletMo’ Moto Android devices coming soon (Dial A Phone) — Another day brings another leaked roadmap. This time it’s Motorola and it’s nothing but Android. The alleged product plans include a “tablet Sholes” which doesn’t differ all that much from the Sholes we all know about now. Differences include no hardware keyboard, an 8-megapixel camera in lieu of 5, and 720p video out via HDMI. Watch for it in the first quarter on GSM networks. Also in the mix is the Motus and the Zeppelin, both of which will get the “led” out before end of March, 2010.

WalMart wants to be your low-cost carrier (Yahoo!) — After a 234 store trial, over 3,200 WalMart locations will offer an inexpensive nationwide calling plan. There’s a $30 prepaid plan with 1,000 minutes / 1,000 texts or you can go with the $45 unlimited calls and texts plan each month. WalMart is leveraging the Verizon Wireless network for this no-contract deal.

ptechJEarly reviews of the Cliq, BlackBerry Storm 2 (All Things D) — While we all wait for these two new handsets, Walt Mossberg has both and shares his hands on thoughts. MOTOBLUR was a winner, but the keyboard of the Cliq was too cramped for Walt. I wondered if that would happen when I saw the D-pad  on the left; I would have rather seen wider keys. The Storm 2 is improved over its predecessor, but still can’t compete on the web against the other WebKit browsers on the iPhone, Android and webOS platforms.
