Opera Mini was a great thing to have on my Moto V635 back in 2005...but the proliferation of smartphones with big displays and reasonable horsepower (not to mention no Java overhead) makes a proxy browser less important than in times past.

I'll say this: whatever is coming needs to be a lot better than the Opera browser I downloaded on a Bold this past spring. Absolutely no comparison at all to Safari for iPhone.

Comparing them is just stupid.

First: Opera Mini is client-server based application, it's goal is to reach as many handsets as possible. So Opera Mobile would be a better comparison.

Second: Can I have Safari on a device that is not iPhone or (iPod) Touch? No! Then what are we talking about?
