I agree with Ricardo and Marcel (Aug 17, 09). With the official Geocaching app PLUS MotionX (Full version if you want to store more than 3 waypoints) I’ve found all of the caches I’ve gone for. However, I also carry my “Little Book o’ Caches” to keep a log/write down details/do calculations etc. Having Google Earth is also useful as it ‘sometimes’ seems to pinpoint your location a little more accurately than the others – and you can zoom a little closer.

Although the official app now allows limited map caching I use Gaiagps for this. You can download map tiles in mass, import gpx files and easily add waypoints of your own. A very nice app should you need offline mapping.

I tend to use geosphere as a supplement to my handheld gpsr because it can filter a pocket query for specific cache types and display that on the map. It also shows the cache description on HTML, which sometimes is easier to read than my paperless handheld unit.

The official is good for obtaining caches not on a pocket query.
