This will be awesome! Now I can upload my own songs plus check out other little known artists too!

Eventually it will get watered down (as everything else) but the initial discovery period should be GREAT!

I'm for anything that might drive a little more revenue to an indie musician. This is transformative, possibly having artists beginning to write music that would be gaming friendly. Hmmmmmm.

"Notwithstanding those concerns, 'I do think it has the potential to be pretty transformative,' Coulton said. 'Anytime you put independent musicians on the same playing field as old school superstars, interesting things start to happen.'"

A new market, yes, but gamers button mashing to a new song right after a classic is hardly transformative.

Not sure if this will be that lucrative but it's interesting. My song Metal Mayhem is played on jamlegend.com with over 130,000 plays. It's a free song so I don't get paid, but I got some traffic from it. No major mindblowing revenue from guitar lesson sales, as most of them just like to play the game and aren't guitarists. But if they have to buy the song it might be a good thing, or they will find a plethora of free creative commons tunes to play for fo free.
