Liz didnt make the distinction, it was the guy who was running the panel. He mentioned it like 3 times while asking all panelists about their IT habits.

He made one comment directed to one panelist that was something like, “oh, you guys use Microsoft products.., you dont count”, referring to the panelists response to whether or not his firm is a consumer of cloud services.

Liz, your cloud-Microsoft dichotomy is false. Not only does Microsoft have their own cloud product, but they participate in others’(it’s possible to run instances of Windows, Exchange, SQL Server, etc. on Amazon EC2).

Found it interesting he would single out “using Microsoft products” as anti cloud.

Google, Amazon, Rackspace.., they all use MS products and they are the cloud providers.

Would have been better if he would have asked if they use SFDC, Siebel OD, NetSuite, Google Apps, etc.
