[...] Defogging the Cloud in IT "Simply put, the cloud is the next stage in the evolution of the Internet, though its impact will be far from simple. The democratization of powerful, scalable, industry-standard computing resources coupled with pervasive broadband allows us to store massive amounts of data, then analyze and contextualize that data to create tailored and intuitive services, for both individuals and businesses. In short, the Internet now has memory and something like the ability to reason. This allows us to develop solutions to problems that, if attempted with traditional technologies, would be either too expensive to start or doomed to fail on delivery. Looking across the entire spectrum of information technology, there is one class of solutions for which the cloud is particularly well-suited: collaboration." (tags: technology cloud evolution business) [...]

I agree with Mr Daniels that the best use of cloud at the moment is collaborative applications. In fact at binfire.com we have concentrated our efforts to provide users with collaborative tools to manage tasks that require more than one person to work on (i.e files) and team members are at several geographical areas.

The value of cloud computing is crystal clear to me. I installed the free cloudantivirus.com from Panda Security and got rid of my McAfee with all those annoying and cpu-hogging daily updates. Now my PC runs super fast and the antivirus software runs where it should - in the cloud. It's so inefficient to run and update software on millions of PCs when you can simply run it in the cloud. This is the future. McAfee and Norton - get with the program!

Yup, Mr Daniels needs to get de-fogged! Makes no argument as to why, cloud is more suitable for a social network ( I assume its for scalability), nor does he say why its not good for other apps. Mindless article.
