The response to CLEAR WiMAX has been very good. I happen to be a reseller and one very important thing I have found is that signal strength has everything to do with speed and bandwidth. That is why I try to do an on-site signal test for everyone that calls me because I want to make sure they get a good idea what the service will be like before they sign-up. I have lost a few accounts this way too, but in general people are much happier if they know what to expect from the service. And when it is good, it is really good. I have some very happy customers.

You can use the Clear Spot with any PDA / MID… Dedicated WiMax products are cool but sharing WiMAX to all your wifi products really rocks!

FWIW, that suit is for the pre-WiMAX service and deals with early termination fees which don’t apply for the non-contract plans Paul references.

Has anyone tried Clearwire’s WiMax Home Internet?

I live in Atlanta and am interested in signing up as AT&T only offers 1.5mbps in my area and Comcast has screwed up customer service with me too many times for me to want to subscribe with them.

However, I’ve seen that there’s a class action lawsuit out for clearwire due to false performance claims.

Should I just stick with AT&T and try to be happy with what I have?

Number of current LTE deployments = 0.

Expected first LTE deployment, end of this year = 1 city

Expected number of Clear WiMAX cities by end of year = 12 or so. Depending on who’s counting.

Regrettably, ClearWire’s worst obstacle is itself, not anything AT&T or Verizon might do over the next 18-24 months.

Clearwire is going to need a lot of grass roots marketing in order to get awareness out. Comcast & AT&T spend millions all over Atlanta to the point you don’t know that other options exist.

They have to show that it works, it works in all types of Georgia weather and that it’s a better value. If they can do that, they’ll force the other two to lower their prices. They should find a way to hookup with DirecTV or Dish and offer a triple play of their own.

This way, they can get new people to signup without worrying about paying through the nose for TV, but getting cheaper voice and or/internet.
